In training most of today and tomorrow, working on meeting facilitation, creative thinking, ideation, etc., mosting using the models from Synectics.
Our team went out for a lovely holiday tea today!

I'm very excited to report that I received an offer today for a real position at the company I work for (as opposed to being a contractor, which I have been there since January). The position is a little different from what I have been doing, but is still within the same team of great people that I work with now. I'll be the program manager for the market research portal that I have been working on for the past year and a half, and have more of a chance to promote the site throughout the company, survey users, conduct trainings and drive the site's future evolution (as well as the other information services our team provides like a blog, library, custom inquiry work, etc.) Woo hoo!!!
Some of our team at work did a community service/team building morning helping to weed the heritage rose garden -- and then we all went out to lunch. it was a gorgeous day to be outside!

It's official, I am an intern no more! I just finished filling out all the paperwork, and starting 1/2/06 I will be employed *full time* as an Information Specialist! Unfortunately, I lose some of the intern perks (like software discounts, sorry folks) but I am very excited to continuing to do the work I've been doing for the last year plus many new assignments and projects including more reference/inquiry stuff. For obvious reasons, I won't be posting much about work here, but perhaps on topics related such as developing taxonomies, working with metadata, special libraries, etc. and maybe I should start paying some more attention to local SLA events. And no, this doesn't mean that I'm giving up on public library work. I hope to keep subbing on weekends here and there to keep my hand in and when they reopen the hiring list...
